Simon_Unit4_Zimmerman_Q

Zimmerman's essay kinda reminds me of Perlin's Can There Be a Form Between a Game and a Story. Both the two authors are trying to lay a ground work for the form of game-story. The difference is that Zimmerman has more focus on utility while Perlin on "agency". Today the game-story idea seems flourishing in the marketplace, like GTA: San Andreas and Halo2, with scripted cut-scenes like hollywood movies. But here is a concern, as Jesper Juul stated online, "the story angle is asking games to focus on their weakness rather than their strengths. And a similar oppinion has been published by Clive Thompson, "the more video games become like movies, the worse they are as games. " What do you guys think?

Just like te idea in Pearce's article, she noticed that there are some difference between games and films in essence. I agree that the narative angle is not suitable for certain game genre, such as sports games.
